NGT Imposes Environmental Compensation Of Rs 3,500 Cr On Bengal Over Failure In Waste Treatment

The National Green Tribunal has imposed an environmental compensation of Rs 3,500 crore on West Bengal for failure in the treatment of solid and liquid waste. As part of its efforts to achieve a better rank in the next edition of Swachh Survekshan, the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) has formulated an action plan to revive sewage treatment plants to reduce carbon emissions under its ambit.
