The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) is planning to construct another sewage treatment plant (STP) at the existing Gangapur STP site at a cost of around Rs 36 crore. The proposed STP will have a capacity to treat 20 million liters per day (MLD). The existing STP at was built at a cost of Rs 50 crore, including the land cost, and was made operational last year.
Currently, the NMC has 11 STPs in the city treating sewage water with a total sewage treatment capacity of 392 MLD. The civic administration has prepared an action plan of the city’s sewage treatment management considering the population growth by 2026. Hence, the NMC will have to increase the capacity of the STPs from 392 MLD to 440 MLD.
