The Greater Noida Authority has approved the construction of five sewage treatment plants (STPs) to enhance wastewater management and recycling for irrigation purposes. Among these, a `40 crore estimate for a 12 MLD STP in Sector IT City received in-principle approval from CEO Ravi Kumar NG after IIT Delhi endorsed the detailed project report. The planned STPs include a 45 MLD plant in Sector 45, a 50 MLD plant in Knowledge Park V, a 42 MLD plant in Ecotech VI, and a 72 MLD plant in Sector MU. The CEO emphasized the importance of these projects in developing infrastructure that supports the city’s ecological sustainability.

Work on the 12 MLD STP is expected to begin within three to four months, addressing sewage treatment needs in IT City, Murshadpur, and Gharbara village. The authority has also issued tenders for the 45 MLD plant in Sector 1, with an estimated construction cost of 80 crore and plans to start work by January-end 2025.

Additionally, the CEO has requested the water works department to prepare detailed project reports for three more STPs in Knowledge Park-V, Knowledge Park-VI, and MU. Currently, Greater Noida operates four functional STPs, including the largest one with a capacity of 137 MLD located in Kasna. These initiatives aim to improve sewage treatment and promote environmental conservation in the rapidly growing city.
